O&O SpeedCheck is a tool that simulates your computer's performance in both fragmented and defragmented states. It shows the estimated time your computer takes to read fragmented files and to read files after defragmentation. This test helps you determine if your computer needs a defragmentation.
How O&O SpeedCheck Works
The platform's experience is identical to using a program or the system tools that perform defragmentation. It simulates the reading of fragmented files and then, after a simulated defragmentation, the reading of the same files in a defragmented state.
We recommend that before starting the simulation you restart your computer and close all programs and services, because this will noticeably affect the final result of the test.
Running the Test
When the environment opens, click the Run button to start the test. The utility runs five different tests for fragmentation. Once the fragmentation phase is complete, the platform runs five tests simulating the reading of defragmented files.
When the test is finished, the program will indicate the reading time for fragmented files and the reading time for defragmented files. If you observe a huge gap between the reading times, you can consider that the computer needs a defragmentation. For defragmentation you can use the service integrated into the operating system or download an external tool.
Defragmentation is a task that takes too much time. Therefore, before actually defragmenting, it is a very good idea to use the defragmentation performance simulator.
