On October 29, 2026, OpenAI Codex lead Tibo Sottiaux said OpenAI would not reduce ChatGPT Pro 200 usage for Work and Codex. He also announced doubled usage limits for Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, and Business Premium. OpenAI’s Pro tiers page still says eligible Pro 200 subscriptions would move to a lower allowance after October 29.
What the October 29 announcement covers
Sottiaux’s post makes two claims: Pro 200 usage for Work and Codex would stay at its existing level, and usage limits would double for the four named tiers. The post does not give a fixed number of messages or tokens for any of them. Read Sottiaux’s announcement.
Pro 500 is one of the tiers named. For background on its introduction in the United States, see our earlier coverage of ChatGPT Pro 500’s U.S. launch.
Why OpenAI’s Pro page still matters
OpenAI’s Pro tiers page gives the original eligibility rule: a Pro 200 subscription active at the eligibility cutoff, or during the seven days before it, qualified to keep its previous allowance through the grace period as long as the subscription stayed active. The same page says eligible subscriptions would move to a lower allowance after October 29, which conflicts with Sottiaux’s later statement. The page gives no fixed Work or Codex message or token quota.
Where to check your usage
In account Settings, look for the usage area to review the meters and reset information shown for your account. Nehmat Gereige’s walkthrough shows the Usage and Billing area, including a balance, five-hour and weekly usage meters, and reset details.
