Oracle is proposing to buy 125–250 megawatts (MW) of electricity from Wisconsin’s Point Beach Nuclear Plant for its planned data-center campus in Port Washington. The proposal, announced October 2, 2026, requires approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. Oracle estimates the arrangement could shift about $300 million in fuel costs away from We Energies customers over 2027–2033.
Oracle proposes Point Beach power for its Wisconsin data center
The proposed electricity purchase would supply Oracle’s planned Project Lighthouse campus in Port Washington. The reported range is 125–250 MW; the proposal remains subject to state approval.
Oracle’s projected savings for We Energies customers
Oracle estimates the arrangement could shift about $300 million in fuel costs away from We Energies customers between 2027 and 2033. The proposal concerns fuel costs, and the estimate is tied to the proposed purchase.
We Energies’ existing agreement to buy most of Point Beach’s output through 2033 provides the cost context. The utility sold the plant to NextEra Energy in 2007 but retained that power-purchase agreement. The agreement accounts for about 20% of We Energies’ proposed $176 million electric-rate increase for 2027.
The proposal still needs state approval
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin must approve the purchase. Oracle vice president Julia Robin said the company expects to submit its proposal by the end of 2026.
Point Beach and the Port Washington campus
Point Beach is a two-reactor nuclear plant on the shore of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin. Project Lighthouse is Oracle’s planned data-center campus in Port Washington.
