When you see the word Outrun, you automatically think of the formidable and addictive arcade game that devoured our coins. However, it was also an excellent example of an era marked by synthwave, the aesthetic of pink, fuchsia, violet, and chrome, fast cars, neon lights, night outings, and the search for the sunset at full speed. Today we present a gallery inspired by that style, and we are almost convinced that one of the images will end up as your wallpaper…
A Ferrari Testarossa roars on the road. The palm trees on the sides are simple shadows that stretch as the Sun falls on the horizon, sharing its last rays. The sound of the waves is almost a background song. Elsewhere, a motorcycle stops under a streetlight that challenges the dark night. The first drops of rain begin to fall. The rider approaches that restaurant that somehow is always open 24 hours, with flickering, loud, and hypnotic neon lights out front. A cigarette and a coffee to face the cold. In the 80s, many of us imagined these things as the present. Others, as something to achieve in the future. Today we tag it with words like nostalgia or retrofuturism, but the Web, and especially a certain subreddit, calls this style Outrun. Think of Tron, Blade Runner, Hotline Miami and Kung Fury, bands like Depeche Mode and the huge audio systems. Think that the 80s didn't go anywhere, and enjoy these images.
