With Pencil you can create prototypes of almost any project you have in mind. The platform's tools and features give you a simple way to create a basic flowchart for Android, iOS, websites, desktop programs, and more. The environment comes with OpenClipart.org integrated, so you can add unlimited cliparts to your projects.
If you need to make a prototype of a web design or program development, to get an idea of the final work or present a demo to your client, Pencil has all the features you need.
Main features of the tool
- Intuitive interface: From it, you can design prototypes easily.
- Shapes and frames: The shapes and tools help you create models. All shapes and frames are added to the interface by dragging and dropping.
- Cliparts from OpenClipart.org: You can add clipart by dragging and dropping.
- Export to multiple formats: One of the most important points of the platform is the possibility to export the prototype in almost all formats (PDF, PNG image, ODT file).
How to use Pencil to create prototypes?
Once you have downloaded the program on your operating system, you will see all the shapes on the left.
Step one: Drag and drop the shapes and frames onto the work area. From the properties (right side), you can change colors, size, position, and font type (you can also do it with the cursor).
Step two: In the left side panel, you will find three buttons, one of them is "clipart". Simply search for the clipart and drag and drop it onto the work area.
Step three: Finally, when you have finished the prototype, you will need to export it. From the upper left menu, look for the "Export" option to export your mockup.
Pencil is a simple platform to create prototypes for free. The environment is one of the few tools that does not need other environments to create a mockup with a good final finish.
