Adding a second monitor to any system offers several advantages, but the sacrifice of space can become a problem for many users. While there is the DIY alternative, some prefer complete factory solutions, and that's where Philips appears with its new monitor Brilliance Two-In-One 19DP6QJNS, which has two 19-inch panels.

The Space Problem

More and more users are choosing to add a second screen to their computers. The relatively low cost, the flexibility of modern hardware, and specific productivity benefits make it a solid decision. The theory is simple, but in practice there's a major challenge: space. Not everyone has enough room for a second monitor. In some cases, a bit of creativity and some tools can solve it, but in others, there's barely any room to maneuver. With that in mind, Philips came up with a different shortcut: installing two independent panels in a single monitor.

The resolution of the panels is modest, but together they form a good combo.

Specifications and Price

The official name for the product is Brilliance Two-In-One, though many users will likely find it easier in online stores under its other designation, 19DP6QJNS. What we have here is a monitor with two 19-inch panels at a resolution of 1,280 by 1,024 pixels (each), LED lighting, four USB 2.0 ports (two per panel), two conventional VGA ports, one DisplayPort and one MHL-HDMI, which guarantees connectivity with almost any device, be it a computer, console, tablet, or smartphone. The border between the two screens is only 3.5 millimeters, and if you wish, you can use them straight or tilted at an angle of up to 22.5 degrees (again, per panel).

The official specs for the Brilliance Two-In-One put its power consumption at around 20 watts, which is quite reasonable in my opinion. However, its five kilograms of weight (without the base) and the design of its casing might pose an extra challenge for anyone wanting, for example, to mount it on a wall. The Philips Brilliance Two-In-One 19DP6QJNS is already on sale, with an average price of $430.
