PT Photo Editor is a photo retouching program that comes with powerful features. One of its main advantages is the ability to use preset effects or perform custom retouching (rotate, crop, red eye removal, cloning, selection and spot removal tools, and color temperature manipulation, among other options).
But if you want to retouch without spending too much time, you can simply use its preset adjustments and apply them to images with a single click.
Once you download the program from its official page, you'll notice its modular interface, very similar to any photo editor. Although it might seem difficult at first, after this tutorial you'll realize how simple it is.
In the top left corner you'll find icons for opening images, saving, and going back or forward. Some formats supported by the program are TIFF, PNG, TIF, JPEG, BMP, ARW, DCR, ERF, MRW, RAW, RW2, and so on. The save formats are Bitmap, PNG, TIFF, and JPEG.
How to Use Preset Effects
This is one of the most convenient features of the utility, and it also lets you achieve very nice retouches without effort. To apply effects (forest style, Japanese, night city, snowy city, etc.), you'll need to go to the “Preset effects” module, located on the left side of the interface.
Simply open the folder, choose an effect, and click to apply it. Then, if you want to tweak it, you can customize it and save it as a user adjustment. If you can't find your template, you can click the download icon and choose an adjustment from its page (some are commercial).
Total or Zone Editing
The platform also offers two editing styles: total image editing 'Global' (F2) and region-based editing 'Zones' (F3). To use it, just click one of the two options in the top right corner of the editor interface, or use the keyboard shortcuts.
Simply go to the work area and zoom in on the area you want to retouch, and only that specified area will be modified. In our test everything worked well, although the area selection isn't very precise.
Image Comparison
This is undoubtedly the most innovative and practical feature of the platform, because you can make a very visual comparison between the original image (the one you opened) and the retouched image (the one you save). To do this, go below the work area and you can click the vertical or horizontal view, and on the other side you can adjust the framing by changing the aspect ratio and zooming.
As you can see, the program is a very good option for photo retouching and has nothing to envy from commercial tools.
Apart from the features we've detailed, the utility also includes color manipulation, color temperature, saturation, exposure, curve levels, tones, and shadows, among many other options.
