It's not the first time we've been fascinated by Asian cities. Fabulous buildings surrounded by small shops, neon and fluorescent lights, poles, cables, crossings full of people, and narrow nearly deserted passages call us again and again. Italian photographer Matteo Carella has captured all that and more with his camera, and today we can enjoy it here, through this humble gallery.
One of the first things that comes to mind seeing these photographs is cyberpunk... but the story doesn't end there. Solitude. Melancholy. The clash of traditional and modern. Few cities reflect that combination like Tokyo, but it's not alone in that storm. Giant ads screaming in light and color, a whole forest of neon and LED lights, crossed by tiny, damp streets, with cozy restaurants defying the darkness.
