What is QFormatConverter?
QFormatConverter is a powerful calculator that converts a list of decimal values into Q-number format. This way you can convert decimal numbers with variable fraction bits (up to 31) into hexadecimal numbers (Q format).
These changes in the result format help hardware and integer units to perform calculations with rational numbers.
How to use it
Once you download the program from its official page, you will see how from its simple interface you can start making conversions easily.
To use it, you must enter the decimal number in “Decimal”, then determine the number of fractional bits in “Format Q”, the response mode in “Mode” (Hex responds to the Q format and Dec to decimal notations), in the “In Line” field choose the number of converted fields per line, and in “Minimum Digits” determine the minimum number of digits of the hexadecimal number.
Then in the “Separator”, “Prefix”, and “Postfix” fields, you can add characters to separate the results and add characters before and after them. After completing all fields, you just need to click “Convert” and you will get the results in the “Q Format” box.
Convert text files
But the platform also allows you to convert text files that contain decimals (they must be listed in columns). You just go to the top menu, click “Converter”, select “Load”, and load the file into the tool.
