If you enjoyed the Apogee era in the early 90s with platformers like Commander Keen, Conker and Ruff'n'Tumble, then this title is sure to delight you. It's about Rad Rodgers, a platformer that pays homage to the Apogee era.
Rad is a mischievous but energetic kid who spends most of his time playing video games. After a long night of gaming, Rad falls asleep and is awakened by Dusty, his old game console. Suddenly a vortex appears and both are sucked into the TV, where Rad becomes the star of his own video game adventure. Thus begins Rad Rodgers, a platformer that pays homage to the Apogee era. In fact, this title is inspired by classic 90s platformers like Commander Keen, Conker, Ruff'n'Tumble and Jazz Jackrabbit.
Rad Rodgers is a platformer of side-scrolling action with two characters: the kid Rad and his old console Dusty. The adventure begins in the First World, composed of six dangerous stages full of action and platforms. This first world is a jungle where the dynamic duo must save the jungle inhabitants and restore the Old Tree that governs those lands. Throughout the levels, Dusty hangs on Rad's back and functions as multiple weapons when fighting enemies. Additionally, there are certain sectors where you exclusively control Dusty to open the way for Rad.
The game uses the Unreal 4 engine accompanied by a sense of humor similar to that of the hilarious animated series Rick and Morty. The studio Interceptor Entertainment ran a campaign to raise funds through Kickstarter where the generosity of fans paid off in the form of $64,134 to begin developing the first chapter. Rad Rodgers is being developed by Interceptor Entertainment and will be available on Windows and PlayStation 4 (depending on the goal reached in the funding campaign, it's possible that a version on Xbox One, Mac and Linux may also be included). For now, the game does not have a concrete release date.
