Recently I talked about Pocket Radio Player, an excellent local player that lets us "tune" into a huge number of online radios. However, that software limits its compatibility to Windows, and its code is not available either. An alternative to escape the Microsoft universe is to move all functions to the browser, and with that in mind we came to RadioSide, which offers access to more than 20,000 stations.
Yes, I'm talking about radios more and more. Daily TV tires me, all the series I follow are on pause, and a random stream with music from another country can become excellent company. Fortunately, listening to radio over the Internet doesn't carry any major technical requirement: we can go to their official pages or their YouTube channels, download a player with integrated lists, or look for an online solution like Radio Garden. Today I'm going to choose that last path, and its destination leads me to RadioSide, a new project.
RadioSide: More than 20,000 radios at your fingertips
The first thing that catches our attention about RadioSide is its interface. It has a more serious profile, inspired by professional products. Each radio has a code or "virtual frequency" that we can enter manually, but the easiest way to find radios is to press the KTM button and type a keyword. This can be the radio's name, its city/country of origin, or any other detail. If you don't want to memorize numbers, the presets system comes to the rescue.
Two other options for finding stations are manual tuning (both arrows) or the Random button. The rest of the controls are reduced to volume, mute, and an extra button that enables full screen. Its developer warns that RadioSide works in "modern browsers", but I imagine many old mobile devices out there could be effortlessly transformed into digital radios.
