The Story
During Microsoft's conference at E3 2014, Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced as the sequel to the excellent Lara Croft game from 2013. After the traumatic events of the previous title, our favorite heroine becomes obsessed with discovering the truth behind myths of the world and is already preparing for a new and violent adventure.
This time, Lara Croft and Jonás Maiava travel to Siberia in search of the ancient city of Kitezh, built by the Grand Prince Vladimir in the 13th century, where they believe the truth behind immortality is hidden.
Gameplay and New Features
But problems will soon arise with the appearance of Trinity, an organization interested in the supernatural. Lara will have to survive once again the attack of humans, animals, and the environment in order to find the truth behind myths and become who she was destined to be. As for the gameplay of Rise of the Tomb Raider, now Lara will have more stealth attacks and the ability to confuse enemies using the environment. There will also be a crafting system by collecting plants and animals, and a weather system that will affect the actions of humans and animals.
Microsoft Exclusivity and Release
For now, this sequel will be temporarily exclusive to Microsoft consoles to counter the effect of the new Uncharted 4: A Thief's End on PlayStation 4, according to Phil Spencer. The idea is to give players the opportunity to enjoy a game with the same characteristics on Xbox. Considering that Naughty Dog's game will only come out during the first months of 2016, do you think Microsoft's move was the right one? Rise of the Tomb Raider is being developed by Crystal Dynamics on Xbox One while Nixxes Software will take care of the Xbox 360 version. The game has no concrete release date yet but is expected to arrive before the end of 2015. Microsoft announced that it will offer more details during its conference on June 15 at E3 2015, so we'll have to wait to see what they have in store.
