SharedScreen is a service for sharing your screen without limits. The particularity of the environment is that the people observing your desktop do not need to download programs or plugins. The way it works is this: the platform installs a desktop client (on the computer whose screen is to be shared) and turns your computer into a “host”. All you have to do is share a URL so that other users can see your screen from any web browser. The users are simple spectators, because they cannot interact with your screen; they can only see the activities you carry out. When you visit the SharedScreen page, you can download the desktop client for the utility.
How to share your screen via a URL
When you start the platform, you'll need to click the Start Sharing button and you'll begin a screen-sharing session. At this point, you'll have to enter your nine-digit identification code. Then you just have to click the Share button (in blue) so that the platform shows you two types of URL: Shortened URL and Manual URL.
If you select the shortened URL, it will be copied to the clipboard and you can share it with users (with the URL they will be able to see your screen). But if you select the manual URL option, an address will be generated that will ask spectators to enter an access key (the key will be visible at the top of the platform interface).
If you want to go a bit further with security, select the QR Code option. A QR code will automatically be generated, which you'll share with the users you want to see your session (the code hides the key).
In our tests, the transmission quality has been very fluid and we have not experienced any interruptions. In the top right corner, spectators will see a small watermark that you can remove by making a donation to the service. Of course, spectators will see a fluid real-time transmission as long as they have a stable and good internet connection. But if you share your desktop with a user who has a poor internet service, you can adjust the transmission quality (lower or raise it).
Although we miss options for interacting with spectators, the environment is a very good service for sharing your desktop without limits and without the need to download anything.
SharedScreen is a service that you will find for free. It only asks for a donation to remove its watermark. It works on Windows operating systems.
