Many of us hate taking our hands off the keyboard to use the mouse for a task that would otherwise be impossible. Unfortunately, as operating systems became more user-friendly for the general public, the availability of keyboard shortcuts gradually diminished almost to extinction. Fortunately, there are applications like ShortKeeper.
ShortKeeper lets you automate regular tasks using keyboard shortcuts. This way you can open a document, a web page, insert or save text, run Word or Excel, by creating personalized shortcuts.
This is a 'multi-purpose' program, as it offers the possibility to modify and delete any keyboard shortcut when it becomes obsolete for you. This is the big difference between ShortKeeper and other similar environments you'll find on the Internet. To create shortcuts, the program includes the 'AutoHotkey' platform, which will facilitate the action of creating shortcuts for common tasks.
The Shortcuts Tab
Once you enter the utility's interface, you'll see it's divided into three tabs. We'll focus on the 'Shortcuts' tab, which has three panels: On the left section, commands to set hotkeys are listed (Open document, Copy text to extra clipboard, Paste text from extra clipboard, Save selected text to Notepad, etc.).
In the central section, you determine an action or keyboard shortcut (related to the command). For example, if you have selected launching a web page in the command, in the central panel you determine which website will open and which shortcut it will use (Ctrl, Alt, Win, Shift and a letter of the alphabet). On the right side of the interface, the results of the action you performed are shown, in this case: Ctrl+G Opens Google.com.
There are no limitations to adding quick accesses to regular tasks. The only limitation we found are the command options, because you cannot add a command manually. Comparing ShortKeeper with other alternatives, the program stands out as a complete keyboard shortcut manager that is totally free. An excellent alternative.
