They say the second parts are never good, but if there is an exception to that rule, it's Silent Hill 2. Without exaggeration, the game is one of the best in the survival horror genre, with a suffocating atmosphere, disturbing monsters, characters that are not what they seem, and a story worth experiencing from beginning to ends (plural, because there are several). So... what's the problem? Very simple: someone has just created a concept trailer for Silent Hill 2 in virtual reality, and basically, it's trying to give me a heart attack...
A Fan-Made VR Concept Trailer
If you have the original hardware, great. Otherwise, you can always use an emulator. The first three Silent Hill titles are undeniably the brightest points of the entire franchise, and they definitely deserve your time. Personally, I recommend following that route because it's very likely we won't see another official Silent Hill for a long, long time. Apparently, Konami is enjoying its slot machines, pachinko machines, mobile apps, and the milk it squeezes from Pro Evolution Soccer, while hunting down any fan willing to create something inspired by the Silent Hill universe. For that reason... enjoy this before it blows up:
A Terrifying Experience
YouTube user Hoolopee recently posted on his official channel a concept trailer for Silent Hill 2... in virtual reality. The idea is to replicate the atmosphere, combat, and puzzle-solving mechanics in a way that is compatible with a VR headset and gloves. The action itself lasts a little over a minute... and what a minute. The Lying Figures look terrifying, and something relatively calm like retrieving the drain key becomes uncomfortable, but once Pyramid Head appears... no.

I think I couldn't withstand five minutes inside a VR version of Silent Hill 2, although I can't deny that the trailer's quality is excellent, and many users would love to see something like that. Now that virtual reality is about to make a quality leap with Half-Life: Alyx (or so the hype suggests so far), it wouldn't be a bad idea for another company to relieve Konami of the "intellectual responsibility" of Silent Hill and start releasing new games.
