SK hynix reported preliminary, unaudited consolidated revenue of KRW 104.6155 trillion, operating profit of KRW 83.3338 trillion and an 80% operating margin for Q3 2026 on October 28. Revenue and operating profit were above the rounded pre-release consensus figures; the company said the results could change after the independent audit.
Revenue and operating profit topped the pre-release consensus
TrendForce’s October 26 pre-release consensus put Q3 revenue at KRW 98.23 trillion and operating profit at KRW 76.96 trillion. Compared with those rounded estimates, SK hynix’s preliminary results were about KRW 6.39 trillion, or 6.5%, higher in revenue and KRW 6.37 trillion, or 8.3%, higher in operating profit. These differences are calculations from the consensus and reported results.
| Q3 2026 measure | Pre-release consensus | Preliminary result | Difference from consensus |
| Revenue | KRW 98.23 trillion | KRW 104.6155 trillion | About KRW 6.39 trillion (6.5%) higher |
| Operating profit | KRW 76.96 trillion | KRW 83.3338 trillion | About KRW 6.37 trillion (8.3%) higher |
The 80% operating margin means operating profit amounted to 80% of revenue. SK hynix’s release and its filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission described the figures as preliminary and unaudited.
Net profit moved in the opposite direction
SK hynix’s Q3 net profit was KRW 39.7756 trillion, down 58% from Q2, even as operating profit rose 38% quarter over quarter. Operating profit measures results from the company’s operations; net profit also reflects items outside those operations. The company’s earnings presentation reported KRW 32.63 trillion in net non-operating losses.
SK hynix’s HBM4 and supply outlook
SK hynix said HBM4 shipments began in earnest during Q3. In its October 28 outlook, the company expected HBM4 to exceed HBM3E in both shipment volume and revenue in Q4. It also expects demand for memory to exceed supply through 2030.
The company said long-term agreements with 14 major customers cover more than half of its total production capacity in both 2027 and 2028. Prices under those agreements reflect market conditions within ranges agreed with customers. SK hynix also expected investment to increase significantly in 2027.
SK hynix discontinued its Solidigm IPO review
SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung said the company had discontinued its review of a possible Solidigm IPO at that time. He said the proposed listing was intended to raise outside capital for Solidigm capacity expansion and reduce SK hynix’s investment burden, but proceeding then was not judged the best way to achieve that outcome.
