OpenAI Codex engineering lead Thibault Sottiaux said on Oct. 6 that Auto-review became free for users signed in with a ChatGPT account and did not draw usage from their plan. He described the feature as a second agent that reviews a primary agent’s actions to prevent high-risk actions or ones that conflict with the user’s intent.

What Sottiaux’s 28-day pledge promised

Sottiaux made his pledge on Oct. 4: each day for 28 days would bring either a clear improvement relevant to most Codex and ChatGPT Work users or a full reset.

The earlier speed announcement

On Oct. 5, Sottiaux announced a default-speed change for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. He characterized the change as about 50% faster and separately described approximate rates of about 30 tokens per second before and 50 afterward.

Sottiaux said the change applied through subscription access across OpenAI products and partner products using Sign in with ChatGPT, including OpenCode, Pi, Amp, and Devin.
