Stadio: Comparing Models for Image Generation with Stable Diffusion
Stable Diffusion models

If there's one detail that sets Stable Diffusion above other image generators, it's the ability to download and activate different models. But that comes with its own problem: the files themselves, which average between two and four gigabytes. The Stadio portal helps us visualize 20 different models, inspired by various recognized styles, before we click the Download button.

With the advent of offline installations of Stable Diffusion, models trained on specific artists soon followed. Obviously, this is controversial, but there's another possibility: imitating more generic styles, such as "Anime", "Disney", or "Pixel Art". The number of alternative models keeps multiplying, yet accessing them isn't so simple.

Why? Well… because they're huge. On slower connections, their average of between two and four gigabytes means a long wait. Fortunately, the Stadio portal offers an alternative: visualize and evaluate models before downloading. That's twenty options in total—more than enough to start exploring.

Stadio: How to Evaluate Stable Diffusion Models Before Downloading

The potential is enormous. For example, one model seeks to imitate version 4 of Midjourney, which continues producing extraordinary images (but hasn't abandoned its premium). Then there are two variants inspired by Disney films (classic and modern), rotoscoping, Paper Cut art, and games like Dungeons and Dragons and Elden Ring.

It looks more like Elsa's sister, but I'm not complaining

The sample images are quite good, but clicking the Preview button takes you to a special environment with the model loaded. The rest is a matter of thinking of a prompt and adding the keyword that invokes each model (say, "paper cut style"). The environment is not HTTPS-protected, so I wouldn't recommend doing anything important there, but it definitely serves its purpose.

All download links for the models on Stadio lead to their original sources on HuggingFace. Because they're maintained by users, they can vanish overnight, so don't wait too long if you see something you like.
