Synopsys announced a multiyear agreement with Amazon on September 30, 2026. Amazon will expand its use of Synopsys silicon IP and engineering tools, while Synopsys plans to use AWS computing, storage and Amazon Bedrock for its development work. The announcement builds on NeoTeo’s earlier coverage of the reported Synopsys–AWS chip-IP arrangement.
What Amazon and Synopsys each plan to do
Amazon will expand its use of Synopsys application-optimized silicon IP, electronic design automation (EDA), simulation and analysis, and agentic AI technologies. EDA software supports the design of electronic systems and chips. Synopsys described Amazon as the lead customer for its application-optimized silicon-IP initiative.
Synopsys, in turn, plans to adopt Amazon EC2, AWS cloud storage and Amazon Bedrock for development work on its own IP and software, as well as for building AI applications and agents. The arrangement links Amazon’s expanded access to chip-design technology with Synopsys’s planned use of AWS infrastructure and AI services.
Where Trainium and Graviton fit
Separately, the companies plan to optimize Synopsys multiphysics solutions for Amazon Trainium and Amazon Graviton. That is a planned software-optimization effort alongside the broader agreement covering Amazon’s use of Synopsys IP and engineering tools.
