The cases of Hal Lasko and Concha García Zaera demonstrate what a person can do when they pour their talent into Paint, but there is another Microsoft program known for its enormous flexibility: Excel. That detail leads us to Japan, where 80-year-old Tatsuo Horiuchi has dedicated the last two decades to perfecting the art of drawing with Excel. His works have been circulating the Web for several years, and today we are going to share a small sample.
From retirement to digital art
The life of Tatsuo Horiuchi as an Excel artist began with his retirement in 2000. Although he wanted a new challenge, he had no intention of drowning in additional costs by buying painting materials, so he turned to his computer, and specifically to Excel. Why choose it over Paint? Essentially, he considers it more flexible, more complete in terms of functions, and easier to use.
A ten-year plan and well-deserved recognition
But this master did not master Excel overnight. The images you will see below are the result of a ten-year plan. In the first three years he decided to draw everything he could see, including vegetables and nature. After six years he entered the Excel Autoshape Art Contest and won first prize.
