FreightWaves reported that Tesla said it began volume production of the Semi at its Nevada factory in Q3 2026. The report put the factory’s installed annual capacity at 25,000 trucks and said Tesla disclosed no Q3 production or delivery total. Tesla’s Q3 earnings update also covered the company’s broader results in NeoTeo’s separate report.
Why the factory has two different capacity figures
The 25,000 and 50,000 figures describe different measures. FreightWaves reported 25,000 trucks per year of installed capacity at the Nevada factory. An earlier NeoTeo report on the factory’s design capacity described a design ceiling of up to 50,000 trucks per year.
| Capacity measure | Annual figure | What it describes |
| Design capacity | Up to 50,000 trucks | The factory’s design ceiling, as described in earlier NeoTeo coverage |
| Installed capacity | 25,000 trucks | The annual capacity reported for the Nevada factory |
A design ceiling refers to the factory’s planned maximum; installed capacity refers to the manufacturing capacity in place. Neither figure is a tally of trucks made or delivered.
The Q3 production total was not disclosed
FreightWaves reported no Q3 total for Tesla Semi production or deliveries. The 25,000 figure is annual installed capacity, so it does not say how many trucks the factory produced during the quarter.
