Despite enormous advances and efforts, dentistry remains one of the most expensive and inaccessible branches of medicine for the general public. The decay of oral health always runs deeper in the most vulnerable social strata, yet that has not stopped a Brazilian dentist named Felipe Rossi, who traveled the world with a single aim: restoring smiles. Below, we share a selection of his most striking work.
Dr. Rossi is also the founder of the non-profit organization “Por1sorriso”, dedicated to spreading the best aspects of dental health in regions with the highest social vulnerability. As someone who has suffered (and still suffers) serious dental problems, I can only feel admiration for this work.
The loss of teeth is linked to poverty, poor nutrition, disease, accidents, and other extreme circumstances. The changes are physical (the face is different without teeth) and psychological (the destruction of self-esteem is total) , creating difficulties even in “normal” situations (simple social interaction, job seeking, etc.). I hope other specialists can follow and replicate Rossi's example in the future. If you like what he does, don't hesitate to follow the doctor on his social channels or make a donation to his foundation.
