Google Drive includes a vast array of tools, and many of them are well known. However, some of its most useful features remain hidden for many users. That's why we're going to show you the least used functions of Google Drive.
Google Drive lets you use several cloud office tools to work in groups or to have files available anywhere and on any device.
Voice typing
To use voice recognition, you'll need to create a new Google Docs document. Click “New” and select “Google Docs”. Then, from the top menu, click “Tools” and choose “Voice typing”. Now your microphone will activate and you can start dictating.
Smart search
We're still in Google Docs, but now we'll use its powerful search tool that lets you cite results directly in the document. Go to “Tools” and select “Research”. On the right side of the interface, a web search bar will appear. Search using keywords or phrases, and in the results you'll see three icons to add a citation, insert a link, or get a preview of the page.
Customize your folders
Organizing your Google Drive folders is a task that helps a lot, but some users don't know that you can assign colors to folders to distinguish and group them. Right-click a folder and select “Change color”. This only works from the left sidebar, not from the main file area.
Additional fonts
One difference between desktop office suites and Google Drive is that Google's service has fewer fonts. But the solution is right at hand: just click “Fonts” and select “More fonts…”. A window will open where you can click through different fonts to add them to “My fonts”.
Create forms
If you want to create simple forms that incorporate surveys, simply click “New” and select “Google Forms”. When the app opens, you can create, share, send, and analyze forms. Its interface is very intuitive, and you can create single or multiple choice options to build powerful online forms.
We hope these tricks help you get more out of Google's file storage service.
