Manage Automatic Backups on Android

Saying you need to back up your phone's data seems obvious. But many times, caught up in the rush of daily routine, we forget to keep our data safe, and when we lose it, problems arise. For this reason, we'll explain two methods to back up your data.

Method One: How to Manage Native Backups

To access this function, go to “Settings”, select “Backup and reset”. At this point, you'll enable the backup in “Make a backup” (Automatic backup). Then, you'll need to go to your Google account. From the settings, you'll need to enable the option “Backup in Google Drive”.

This option is very good for when you have to switch devices and you have a very good internet connection (these are very heavy files).

The problem we find with this general backup is that some of the backed-up environments are not compatible with the action of making a backup. If we don't have the necessary space on the device, some data won't be backed up (it's a random system decision). We'll tell you a small trick to verify if your favorite app is compatible with a backup and at the same time, you'll free up space on the phone:

• First, you'll have to open “Google Drive for Web in a browser” and click the settings icon and select “Setting”.
• When you open Google settings, on the left you'll see the “Administrator” and all the apps that back up data to your Google account. You may not see all environments.
• Then go to “Options” and select “Delete hidden data”. This way you'll free up space on the device.

Method Two: How to Configure Sync Options with Google

Android also supports a function to sync your backups with your Google account. To do this, go to: Settings – Accounts – Google. There you'll see all the data you can sync with your account: Calendar, Chrome, contacts, personal data, Drive, etc. You just need to enable each option. If a function is inactive, it's probably because you don't have the platform installed on your phone.

This function is very good because the vast majority of the tools we use on the device are developed by Google, and the only thing we'll have to do on the other device is reinstall them to have our updated data. All environments not developed by Google will not be backed up.

With these methods you'll have options to automatically back up your data and upload it to Google cloud without too many hassles.
