Many users want to keep their computers in sight for aesthetic reasons and for easier access to ports and maintenance. However, there are also users who would love to hide everything, making cables and cases disappear alike. The concept of the invisible computer is not new, but if there is someone who can optimize it to the maximum, it is Matt from the DIY Perks channel. His latest version is truly spectacular, and obviously uses the best hardware.
They say that tastes are not written, and computers are no exception. Some users fill them with RGB, others prefer a basic black box, others use any object at hand (anything can be a case if there is courage)... and then there are those who want them to disappear.
I do not only mean that they take up less space, but also to hide their cables. I have had technical service sessions in which I solved the problem in fifteen minutes, but had to spend the next hour and a half hiding cables at the client's request. Now, there are systems that reduce the number of physical connections… but Matt from DIY Perks does not take shortcuts. When he talks about invisible computers, you should expect something like this:

Matt used one of the FlexiSpot desks as a base, but decided to create the hollow “table” with aluminum, which besides being light and strong enough for this application, does not present as many difficulties when cutting and drilling. However, the real star of that design is the platform that hides the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Through a complex combination of hinges, springs and supports, Matt can lift the lid and “reveal” the screen, at the same time the keyboard and mouse rise to the same level of the desk.
Mounting the OLED panel was a chilling process, since besides requiring special adjustments to the aluminum support, it can become an extremely expensive mistake ($2,000) if something goes wrong. The hardware configuration is based on an Intel Core i9-13900k and an Nvidia RTX 4090, both liquid-cooled. The problem is that traditional AIOs are too large, but Matt found the solution in a custom system that combines brass supports, 40 server heatsinks, and ultra-thin fans (the same ones he used in his PS5 project). Unfortunately, this did not work so well at first (more than 800 watts must be dissipated), and he was forced to replace both the fans and the heatsinks.
To finish, Matt set aside the coating he used in the previous version (it peels off over time), and installed a beautiful oak wood, covering all the aluminum of the desk. In summary, the first version of the invisible computer was excellent, but this one is at a completely different level. A dream.
