Although it might seem like a relatively new phenomenon, the art of body painting is older than you, me, and all your relatives combined. Nearly every culture has used it at some point in its history. Tribes across Africa, the Americas, Australia, and many others have practiced it for ages, whether for religious, martial, or identity purposes. Many still use it for the same reasons today.
Of course, using body paint to transform into pop culture characters is a fairly recent phenomenon, rooted in the web and its appetite for cosplay and super heroes. With all the tools at artists' disposal, not only to showcase but also to monetize their work, everything was in place for artists like Kayleen Pike to dazzle their fans with their art.
Kay is one of the most prolific body paint artists on the internet. She has dressed up as just about anything you can imagine, and she has a YouTube channel that shows the full process behind her works. She is also, personally, my favorite. She has enormous talent and immense charisma, making each of her pieces true visual candy for our eyes.
