Any RPG fan will eventually have to face the almost impossible mission of keeping up with the lore and general documentation of a special campaign, but today there is a spectacular ally on the internet, with all sorts of wikis, maps, stories, supplements, and of course, digitizations of entire books. One of the best collections can be found at The Trove, with dozens of multiverses ranging from Battletech and Call of Cthulhu to D&D, Mutant Year Zero, and more.
Some role-playing games are truly wonderful. Leaving aside the rules, dice rolls and other technical details, there are worlds worth exploring an inch at a time. Whether it's fantasy, science fiction, a -punk variant, or in between all those classifications, there's probably something attractive for you, and beyond what word of mouth can communicate, everything begins with a good reading of their books.
The main problems are usually three: the books are expensive, difficult to obtain, or both at the same time. Nobody denies that authors deserve every cent for their creations, but the barriers to accessing this kind of material are almost historical, and the only alternative for most potential players is to search for digitizations online. That's when portals like The Trove come to the rescue.

D&D, BattleTech, A Song of Fire and Ice, Call of Cthulhu, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, LotR, Mutant Year Zero… let's say you have your hands full. The Trove is a fabulous database that includes whole campaigns, rules, expansions and supplements, fiction, images, and even fonts based on these and other multiverses.
Pathfinder, ShadowRun, D&D and Call of Cthulhu are the most popular systems on the portal, but don't stick to conventional texts. There are some very attractive rarities, among which the Book of Erotic Fantasy stands out, a book that works as a supplement for D&D 3e, and that explores the entire sexual spectrum, from skills and taboos to gestation times in different species. The Trove has no download limits, and you don't need to create an account. There are more than 730 gigabytes to explore manually, but I recommend using the structure on the left side, or cutting to the chase and doing a search. It's possible that some texts are repeated due to updates, however, we don't see it as a problem.
