OpenAI OpCo, LLC, Anthropic and NVIDIA Corporation reported a combined $5.79 million in U.S. federal lobbying expenses for Q3 2026, based on the amounts in their filings for July 1 through September 30. Their forms list $1.53 million, $2.11 million and $2.15 million, respectively, and were signed October 20.
What the three Q3 filings report
| Company | Reporting period | Expense on form | Reporting method |
| OpenAI OpCo, LLC | July 1–September 30, 2026 | $1,530,000 | Method A: Lobbying Disclosure Act definitions only |
| Anthropic | July 1–September 30, 2026 | $2,110,000 | Method A: Lobbying Disclosure Act definitions only |
| NVIDIA Corporation | July 1–September 30, 2026 | $2,150,000 | Method C: Internal Revenue Code section 162(e) |
Adding the three amounts gives $5,790,000: $1,530,000 + $2,110,000 + $2,150,000. OpenAI and Anthropic selected Method A, while NVIDIA selected Method C, so the sum combines figures reported under different methods.
The $7.5 million figure and the filing total
An October 22 report attributed a separate $7.5 million combined figure to Project On Government Oversight (POGO). That figure is $1.71 million higher than the $5.79 million direct sum of the three company filings.
The issues named in the filings
The companies’ forms list different, sometimes overlapping subjects. OpenAI OpCo’s filing includes AI safety and oversight, cybersecurity evaluations and safeguards for frontier models, copyright, cloud infrastructure and privacy. It also lists proposed antitrust protections for sharing AI-security information.
Anthropic’s filing names export controls, child-safety legislation, data-center energy and ratepayer protections, procurement and safeguards. NVIDIA’s filing covers semiconductor trade and export controls, AI, quantum computing, energy, competition, workforce development, research and development, and 6G and network issues. These entries identify lobbying topics.
The Verge reported on October 22, 2026, that each company’s Q3 lobbying amount was its highest quarterly total to date.
