Nowadays, creating timelines is a growing trend for illustrating business or personal events. From NeoTeo, we want to show you how to create a timeline and import it into Google Sheets. The timeline can be fully edited and, once finished, you can share it online or embed it in any web page or blog.
What is TimeGraphics?
To create the timeline, we'll use the online platform TimeGraphics, which provides a template fully adaptable to Google Sheets. In this template, you manually enter events and data with multimedia, texts, or Google utilities. Once in the editor, you can use the default template or choose any available from its database. In the top menu, you'll find templates categorized as recently uploaded, most popular, or all.
Creating Your Timeline
After selecting a template, you'll see the timeline in the workspace, displayed in years and months (you can zoom in or out). Move your mouse to the desired date, and the cursor will turn into a '+' symbol. The date will be displayed at the top of the interface.
Clicking on a date activates a wheel with the following events you can add to the timeline: Google Calendar, Google Analytics, Events, percentage bar, statistics, API reports, and Grouping, among others.
Once you click on each option, an editor opens on the right side of the workspace where you can customize the data to the fullest (color, texts, position, dates, etc.).
Once you've completed your timeline, you need to import the document into your spreadsheet. In the wheel, select the "Import from Google Spreadsheet" icon, then click the "Google Spreadsheet Template" link.
A new browser tab opens with your timeline created in TimeGraphics, now in Google Sheets. At this point, you can edit anything. To finish, simply click the Share button in the top right corner, and in the new popup window, you'll get a link to share the created timeline. You can also determine the level of privileges for users who receive the link. If you don't want to use Google Sheets, the platform offers the possibility to take screenshots of the timeline and save them as images.
Creating a timeline with TimeGraphics is a very simple task, and it offers an easy way to import data to Google Sheets, then share the link or code with any user if you wish.
