Trials on Tatooine: Star Wars and Lightsabers in Virtual Reality
Trials on Tatooine

Your training to become a Jedi has just begun. Prepare your lightsaber and fight against the imperial soldiers in Trials on Tatooine, the new virtual reality experience from Star Wars.

The Star Wars Celebration Europe left us with several interesting things. One was the video with the behind the scenes of Rogue One, the new Star Wars movie. The other news is that the creative minds at ILMxLAB, a division of Lucasfilm's immersive entertainment, present an interactive cinematic virtual reality experience set in a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine. This new experience lets you turn your home into Tatooine and become a Jedi wielding the lightsaber while you fight a group of imperial soldiers.

Set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, you take on the role of a young Padawan recruited by Luke Skywalker. The adventure begins with the Millennium Falcon descending on the desert planet of Tatooine, while R2-D2 offers you a lightsaber that you must use to deflect the shots of a group of imperial soldiers lying in wait. According to Rob Bredow, Lucasfilm's chief technology officer, Trials on Tatooine is an experiment to better understand the balance between interactivity and storytelling in this new platform.

In fact, Trials on Tatooine is the first virtual reality experience that lets you immerse yourself in the universe of Star Wars. Thanks to this, anyone can now pick up their lightsaber and help defend a galaxy far, far away from the Empire's attack. If you own an HTC Vive virtual reality headset, you can now become a Padawan and enjoy an experience like never before, right from your own home. Developed by ILMxLAB, Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine is now available for free download on Steam.
