Last month we told you about How-Old.net, Microsoft's facial recognition site that calculates the age you appear in a photo. The general level of accuracy was quite good despite its flaws; even so, the site was a huge success, being used by millions of users. This time Microsoft returns with a new portal called TwinsOrNot.net that again uses facial recognition to find similarities between two people. When you enter the site, it asks you to upload two photos to analyze similarities through a score from 0 to 100 and a brief description. In this case, we compared a photo of me (please don't laugh) and another of Argentine actor Pablo Echarri:
Development and Privacy
Mat Velloso, the person responsible for TwinsOrNot.net, explains on his blog that he has used Microsoft's Face API and Machine Learning APIs to work on facial recognition algorithms. The most surprising thing is the time it took Velloso to develop the site, only four hours.
Regarding privacy, which generated several debates with How-Old.net, Microsoft stated that photos are not stored and are deleted once processed. Apart from that, the TwinsOrNot.net service is already online and users have already begun to make their own comparisons with celebrities and various experiments ranging from finding your own double to comparing fictional characters with real people.
