32 GB led the September RAM breakdown
The survey’s two leading capacity categories were separated by 4.40 percentage points. At 42.22%, 32 GB accounted for fewer than half of participating systems: it was the largest single category, not a majority.

What the Steam survey measures
The figures describe systems participating in Valve’s survey. Valve says participation is optional and anonymous, so the results are a snapshot of those participants rather than a count of every gaming PC.
The 32 GB result describes how common that capacity was among participating systems. It does not, by itself, determine how much RAM an individual player needs.
