If Howl had come out in the 80s-90s, it would be a cult classic today. The problem is it arrived late to the party, when half the attendees had left with the girl they liked and the other half was too drunk to pay attention. Howl danced a lot and very nicely, but almost no one saw it or remembers it. To top it off, quite a few had already danced as much as he did, and some even better. But since good werewolf movies are scarce (the last good one I saw was Late Phases), I appreciated it for what it is: an honest film that doesn't try to be more than it is. However, due to its simplicity and adherence to canon characteristics, it's not suitable for viewers with a dark palate looking for something non-generic in a genre film. Zero surprises, all the vibe.
