If you need a valid excuse to shelve your responsibilities for a while, you have found the right place. That is exactly what the Weekly Visual Dump is for: letting you relax without guilt. It is a curated selection of high-quality images, each one distinct from the others, yet all telling a story that transcends the small frame that contains them. At the end, as always, a movie recommendation. This time, I returned to my roots and shared my experience with a cheesy genre crime thriller. Enjoy!

Scanner Cop II (1995)

With this one, you are all going to hate me, but... I have been rewatching the Scanner saga and yesterday I watched Scanner Cop 2 again, the last of them all. It had been at least 20 years since I last saw it, so it was almost like seeing it for the first time. And yes, in my opinion, it is... THE BEST OF ALL THE SCANNERS! By a long shot, it is leagues ahead of all the previous ones, even the good ones.

The script is simple but effective: a story of revenge between a bad scanner and the police scanner of the title. The quantity and quality of the deaths, the practical effects, and the intense faces in the mental battles stand out. Moreover, it has the best gore I have seen in decades! BUENÍSI-MO. Very original as well. At times, on par with A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Zero social commentary, 100% genre crime, with all the necessary tropes for the experience to be predictable but super enjoyable. It has it all, I swear.

In your face, David!
