Securing Windows against malware is a mission that has left its mark on all users. No matter the version, there's always something to fix about its security. Recent editions of Windows optimized several aspects, and as expected, Microsoft insists that Windows 10 is the best choice. What's next on its list? A new management system for Windows Defender, which reminds us a lot of the old Security Center.
The security crisis in Windows reached another dimension with Windows XP, and that's no coincidence. Its exposure to the Web was enormous, and behaving like a sieve didn't help. The Redmond giant had to go into "damage control mode", release Service Pack 2, activate the firewall by default, and incorporate the famous Security Center. The concept of the Security Center carried over to later versions of the operating system under different names. In Windows 10, it's known as "Security and Maintenance", but its essence as an isolated resource that monitors security parameters remains intact. On the other end, we find Windows Defender, now with the full role of antivirus and antimalware. Many users distrust it and prefer to install another solution, but Windows Defender can run in passive mode and act as a complement.

Once the Creators Update arrives on our computers, Windows Defender will receive a new Security Center. In theory, this interface will make the process of monitoring and managing protection elements on the computer simpler. That includes Windows Defender itself, the firewall, apps and browsers, overall device health (available space, battery, driver errors, and Windows Update), and parental controls. Basically, the plan here is to move new users away from the "old" controls, unify actions, and enable quick management in the new style.
Is It Really Necessary?
Now, how necessary is this? I'm afraid we can't answer until we see it in action, but if we follow the content of the video, it won't be something critical for the experienced user. Unfortunately, that feeling extends to the entire Creators Update, with the possible exception of the Game Mode that promises greater performance during game execution. The Creators Update debuts in April, and Insider program participants will see the new Security Center soon.
