If there are two Windows software developers we haven't stopped recommending in recent years, they are Nirsoft and Sysinternals. On one hand, Nir Sofer's work is simply impeccable, and on the other, Mark Russinovich's tools have rescued us so many times that we can no longer remember them. If you want access to all the software made by both and receive automatic updates, the answer is WSCC.
If your computer suffers a malware infection or has another more specific problem, you will likely need to use a third-party tool to fix the situation. There are times when Task Manager won't open at all, or you simply need to recover a password, but there are many other conditions where Windows cannot help, or doesn't know how. That's when programs like those from Nirsoft and Sysinternals intervene. Lightweight, portable, efficient, and effective, each of their modules deserves a privileged place on any maintenance USB drive. If the idea of having them all is particularly interesting to you, then you need WSCC.
In essence, WSCC is a software hub, a platform through which it's possible to download and update all the programs both developers have placed online. A very positive aspect of WSCC is that each entry loads with its corresponding description, making the identification process easier. WSCC also has a dedicated section for the main Windows tools, offering shortcuts that avoid visits to the Control Panel or the system console. On its first run, WSCC will try to install all available software, but the user can cancel and install modules individually by right-clicking.
WSCC has a portable edition, and builds in 32 and 64 bits. Users of Nirsoft's software may prefer to follow a more official line with NirLauncher (which, by the way, is excellent), but there is something very striking and at the same time reasonable about the decision to gather the offerings of Nirsoft and Sysinternals under a common interface.
