xAI announced Data Bot on November 2, 2026, as a Team Bot within Grok Bot that SpaceXSI’s data science team teaches to query its warehouse and run analyses. Its defining idea is shared expertise: the team maintains analytical skills for the bot’s users, rather than having each person teach a separate assistant. xAI’s announcement describes the model as an internal SpaceXSI workflow.
A team-trained bot, not a personal assistant
Personal bots rely on what their individual owners teach them, xAI says. Data Bot instead uses a shared set of skills that the data science team maintains and improves for its users. Those skills cover metrics and analysis, experiments, charts and dashboards, and data engineering practices such as working with dbt.
The bot can also retain operational context in shared memory. Team Bot managers can approve or reject proposed additions before that information is shared with users. The distinction sits within Grok Bot’s broader team-bot framework, covered in our earlier report on xAI’s Team Bots beta.
The analytics workflows xAI describes
The examples center on SpaceXSI’s data warehouse. xAI says teams can use Data Bot to investigate changes in metrics, analyze experiments, measure Braze campaigns, and monitor sales-pipeline progress. It can return written reports, charts, or dashboards in Databricks or Hex, and teams can add it to Slack channels for follow-up questions and scheduled updates, including weekly metric reports.
That makes the bot more than a one-off question interface in the workflows xAI describes: it can carry a team’s shared analytical practices into recurring work and present results in different formats. The examples remain tied to SpaceXSI’s operations and warehouse.
The data science team still handles complex analysis
xAI says its data science team continues to take on complex analyses that require more judgment, while learning where Data Bot needs additional guidance. The company estimated that the bot handled about 70 hours of work during the week before the November 2 announcement, work that otherwise would have fallen to the data science team.
