Cloud Playtime is Xbox’s prepaid time for streaming games from the cloud. On October 21, 2026, Xbox announced three introductory U.S.-dollar bundles for an Insider preview: 10 hours for $3.99, 25 hours for $7.99, and 50 hours for $11.99. The purchase covers streaming time, while access to a game is a separate requirement.
That distinction matters if you’re comparing the packs with a subscription: Xbox said the preview was for Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription, but a pack doesn’t itself provide access to the Game Pass catalog.
Xbox Cloud Playtime prices and average hourly cost
Xbox’s U.S.-English announcement listed the following introductory prices. The hourly amounts are calculated by dividing each bundle price by its hours, then rounding to the nearest cent.
| Bundle | Introductory price (USD) | Hours | Calculated average (USD/hour) |
| 10 hours | $3.99 | 10 | About $0.40 |
| 25 hours | $7.99 | 25 | About $0.32 |
| 50 hours | $11.99 | 50 | About $0.24 |
The 50-hour pack has the lowest average cost per hour, but asks you to buy five times as much streaming time as the 10-hour pack. These per-hour figures are calculations from Xbox’s announced prices, not separate hourly rates.
Xbox says Cloud Playtime packs provide ad-free cloud gaming, shorter wait times, and high-quality streaming. The announcement does not give numerical measures for those benefits.
What Cloud Playtime hours let you stream
A pack buys cloud-streaming time, not a game. Xbox’s eligibility terms require a game that supports cloud play and that you have purchased, or access to a select free-to-play game. A supported device is also required.
Xbox says purchased hours remain available until used. They do not expire on a monthly subscription cycle, so you can use the balance over time rather than within one month.
For the preview, Xbox said Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription could buy Cloud Playtime. That describes the preview’s eligibility; it does not make the pack a Game Pass subscription or include its game catalog. Xbox’s announcement also says availability, purchasing options, eligible games, and cloud features can vary by market, device, account eligibility, and preview ring.
The Insider preview and planned rollout
Xbox announced the Insider test on October 21, 2026, and said a broader rollout was planned for November 2026. The November date was a plan stated in the announcement.
