In the name of virality... whatever. Anything stupid that crosses the mind of the YouTuber of the moment. Some of them have already claimed lives, as happened with Pedro Ruiz at the time, and this week, almost took another. Jay Swingler, responsible for the TGFbro channel, had the brilliant idea of placing his head inside a microwave filled with quick-drying multipurpose filler... and required the help of emergency services.
A Recurring Pattern
To be honest, I don't know where to start. Although the title of the article explains precisely what happened, the situation is so absurd that I'm at a loss for words. I think I'll start by saying: not the first time that something like this has happened on the the TGFbro channel. In fact, if we look at some of his previous videos, we'll see Jay Swingler trapped in gelatin, artificial tanning liquid, and traditional cement. This kind of... content has given his channel more than three million subscribers, with an average well over a million views on each of his videos.
The Risky Rescue
The problem isn't hard to understand: His friends tried to speed up the drying of the filler, which, besides hardening, also expands (after all, its main application is to fill cracks and cover defects). Swingler's plan was to put a bag on his head and use a small hose to breathe, but the pressure of the filler caused him and his friends to panic. The solution was nothing less than calling 999. With great professionalism and a significant amount of patience, the rescuers managed to separate Swingler from the microwave oven.
Aftermath
After the wave of comments, Swingler did exactly what one expects from any YouTuber: defend his video, declare that he "doesn't care" what people say (although he didn't hesitate to insult his critics), and in a way show pride in his little creation. He even had the luck to avoid the official bill of 650 pounds, because the West Midlands fire service concluded that the risk of death was "legitimate"...
