General Heed, also known as Generalkidd on YouTube, is a software developer who has been working over the past year on Yugioh For HoloLens, a project to experience the card game Yu-Gi-Oh! in augmented reality with Microsoft's glasses. For a year now, this developer has been publishing videos of his progress with the project, where the holograms of the cards and monsters from Yu-Gi-Oh! can be seen in the real world. "Ever since I was little, I was fascinated by the possibility of playing Yugioh in real life with real holograms. Well, thanks to Microsoft's HoloLens, this is now finally possible. This is only an alpha version of this game and there is a lot of work that still needs to be done." says General Heed in the description of his video.
The goal of General Heed is to create a complete 3D card game experience, and to achieve that feat, he began accepting donations for the project on his blog. As you can see in the videos, the HoloLens creates a holographic playing field for players to use their cards. Once a card is put into play, the various monsters appear above their respective cards. And while in the first video (a pre-alpha version) the monsters are largely static, General Heed made several updates so that in the next two videos the creatures have animations, as well as sound effects, soundtrack, larger models, and even the possibility of using real cards, among other details.
