After a battle with leukemia, Adam West passed away this morning in Los Angeles at the age of 88. Known worldwide for being the star of the 1960s with his bat-twist and a long list of hilarious phrases and scenes, West was always a fan of the alter ego he portrayed. Alongside Burt Ward (Robin), the duo left their mark on television.
West had countless roles throughout his career. His first leading role wasn't Batman but The Detectives (1961-1962), where he played Sergeant Steve Nelson. He also appeared in Bewitched (1964), The Big Valley (1968), Night Gallery (1971), and The Last Precinct (1986). He also dabbled in voice acting in various animated series: Rugrats, Johnny Bravo, The Simpsons, The Fairly OddParents and in Family Guy, where he played himself and was the mayor of Quahog. West and Ward also lent their voices to the Filmation series The New Adventures of Batman (1977).

His voice acting career didn't end there, as he also lent his voice to two Disney animated features: Chicken Little (2005) and Meet The Robinsons (2007). His last work was Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, an animated film set in the 1960s series, where he and Burt Ward returned as Batman and Robin. On the big screen, West had a small role in The Young Philadelphians (1959) and later in Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964).
