A Brief History of Phantom Dust
The story behind Phantom Dust is quite particular. The game was created by Yukio Futatsugi, responsible for the wonderful Panzer Dragoon saga, with intentions to hook the Japanese player with the Xbox. The game was released exclusively in Japan in 2004, but Majesco Entertainment decided to bring it to the West in 2005. In general terms, Phantom Dust is an action game that could be played both single-player and online via Xbox Live with up to four players, and its mechanics are quite similar to those seen in collectible card games like Magic: The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh!, requiring the player to balance their abilities and powers in just thirty slots (like a deck).
The Remastered Version
Phantom Dust became a cult classic, and for more than a decade fans have found ways to keep playing the game on a modified Xbox, or through special programs in the version compatible with Xbox 360. That is how Microsoft decided to surprise this group of players by releasing the remaster of Phantom Dust FREE for everyone. One thing to consider is that even though Phantom Dust is free, it has microtransactions. However, creative director Adam Isgreen confirmed earlier this month that no progression-type matter has been altered to pressure the player into buying anything.

Apart from this, this is a fantastic opportunity for players to experience one of the most loved but overlooked titles of the first generation of Xbox. Developed by Code Mystics, the remaster of Phantom Dust is available for free on Xbox One and Windows 10 with support for Xbox Play Anywhere.
