Amazon reported nearly 17× year-over-year growth in total Bedrock token volume for Q3 2026. Separately, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the company’s first-party model APIs were processing nearly 32 billion tokens per minute, 40% above the previous quarter. The figures describe different measures of AI-service use.

Amazon reported nearly 17× growth in Bedrock token volume

In its Q3 2026 results, released October 29, Amazon said total token volume on Bedrock grew nearly 17× year over year. The quarter ended September 30. Amazon describes Bedrock as AWS’s inference service.

Amazon also reported nearly 7× year-over-year growth in Fortune 500 companies’ spending on Bedrock. That figure tracks spending, while the nearly 17× figure tracks token volume.

Google reported a 40% quarterly increase in API throughput

At Alphabet’s October 28 Q3 earnings call, Pichai said Google’s first-party model APIs were processing nearly 32 billion tokens per minute. He said that rate was 40% higher than the previous quarter and more than four times the year-earlier level, according to Google’s published remarks.

Tokens per minute is a throughput rate. Amazon’s Bedrock figure, by contrast, is the year-over-year change in total token volume. The measures answer different questions: how much Bedrock’s total volume grew, and how quickly Google’s APIs were processing tokens.
