AMD said it was providing Radeon RX 7000 firmware fixes before public disclosure so customers would have time to update. ComputerBase published the statement on October 12, 2026, after receiving it through SAPPHIRE. AMD also said it had no reports of the vulnerabilities being exploited in practice at the time of its statement. ComputerBase reported AMD’s statement
Which SAPPHIRE cards have updater downloads?
SAPPHIRE lists firmware updater downloads for eight GPU families: RX 7600, RX 7600 XT, RX 7650 GRE, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7900 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. SAPPHIRE’s support page lists the downloads.
The GPU family name is a useful first check, but compatibility depends on the exact card SKU, according to El Chapuzas Informático’s report. Check the support information for your specific card before using an updater.
A graphics driver is separate from VBIOS firmware
VBIOS is the firmware that runs on the graphics card. AMD Adrenalin updates the graphics driver; installing that driver alone does not install a separate VBIOS update. SAPPHIRE provides firmware updater downloads separately from its AMD driver-support link.
In an October 2 report, TechPowerUp described SAPPHIRE’s RX/PRO 7000 updater sequence: install the AMD Adrenalin driver first, run the updater in regular Windows mode, then run it again after rebooting into Windows Safe Mode. The report said to allow about 15–20 minutes and described checking the installed firmware version in Adrenalin. TechPowerUp’s account of the update process covers that updater sequence; follow the instructions for the exact card and package you have.
RX 7000 owners’ update reports
Owners on Reddit described both successful updates and problems afterward. One reported a Code 10 device-start error on a SAPPHIRE Pure RX 7800 XT; another reported a black screen on a SAPPHIRE Pulse RX 7900 XT and said a repair shop restored the card by reflashing its original BIOS. Other owners reported successful installs, including one account of two Safe Mode reboots without problems. These individual reports describe experiences, not a failure rate or proof that the updater caused the reported symptoms. (Code 10 report; black-screen report; successful-update reports)
