Apple and LG are reportedly working together on seven categories of smart-home accessories intended to complement Apple’s anticipated home hub. The reported plan gives Apple design and engineering input, while LG would handle branding, manufacturing and product support.

Seven reported accessory categories
The planned lineup spans seven categories:
- A wired video doorbell
- A floodlight camera
- A plug-in outdoor camera
- A plug-in indoor camera
- A smart deadbolt
- A smart thermostat
- A temperature sensor
Many of the devices are also reported to support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter. The smart deadbolt is reported to include ultra-wideband (UWB), a short-range wireless technology.
The reported roles of Apple and LG
Apple is reported to have contributed design and engineering input. The accessories would carry LG branding, and LG would manufacture and support them.
The HomePad rumor and the October 13 event
HomePad is a rumored name for Apple’s anticipated smart-home hub. Separately, an Apple “Welcome Home” experience was reported as scheduled for October 13.
