Apple announced the iPad mini with A20 Pro on October 26, 2026. The new model has an 8.5-inch OLED display, and Apple lists U.S. prices from $699 for Wi-Fi to $1,149 for Wi-Fi + Cellular, depending on storage.
This update follows NeoTeo’s earlier report on the rumored OLED iPad mini, published before Apple announced the device.
What Apple announced
The 2026 iPad mini pairs its 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with the A20 Pro chip. Apple says the larger screen fits the previous mini’s footprint, with bezels 24% thinner. The tablet is 5.4 mm thick.
Apple also reports performance gains over the previous generation: up to 4.5× for AI performance, 2.7× for graphics, and 60% for multithreaded CPU performance. The company says it ran those tests in September 2026.
Every U.S. configuration and price
Apple lists three storage options and two connectivity versions. The 512 GB model costs $200 more than the 256 GB model in either connectivity configuration.
| Storage | Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi + Cellular |
| 128 GB | $699 | $849 |
| 256 GB | $799 | $949 |
| 512 GB | $999 | $1,149 |
Apple’s U.S. education pricing starts at $649. The Apple Store’s U.S. iPad mini page lists the configurations; Wi-Fi + Cellular is the option for buyers who want cellular connectivity as well as Wi-Fi.
The A20 Pro configuration changes at 512 GB
Apple specifies a five-core CPU and one 16-core Neural Engine for the 128 GB and 256 GB models. The 512 GB version has a six-core CPU and dual 16-core Neural Engines. All three storage options have a seven-core GPU.
That makes the 512 GB tier more than a storage upgrade: it also has a different CPU and Neural Engine configuration. The price step from 256 GB to 512 GB is $200 for both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular.
Apple’s scheduled preorder and availability dates
Apple’s October 26 announcement set October 28 as the start of preorders and November 6 as the date for customer availability in initial markets. The November 6 date is Apple’s announced schedule for those markets.
External displays and IP67 resistance
Extended-display mode requires iPadOS 27.2. Apple’s technical specifications list support for one external display at up to 4K resolution and 60 Hz.
Apple rates the iPad mini IP67 under IEC 60529. In controlled laboratory conditions, that rating covers immersion in up to one metre of water for up to 30 minutes. Apple says resistance can diminish with wear and that liquid damage is not covered by its warranty.
