Warner Bros. Pictures has just released a new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 and, like the first two previews, it shows a story tightly connected to Ridley Scott's original film. Enjoy several action scenes starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.
There is no doubt that Blade Runner is a science fiction classic. Set in a dystopian version of Los Angeles in 2019, Rick Deckard is a blade runner who pursues replicants that have escaped an off-world colony. Blade Runner 2049 takes place thirty years after the events of the previous film, when a new blade runner, officer K from the Los Angeles police department, uncovers a long-hidden dark secret that has the potential to plunge what remains of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a search to find Deckard, who has been missing for thirty years.
New Plot Details Revealed
The new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 reveals some interesting details about the plot. The video begins with K interrogating Dave Bautista's character, presumably in search of Deckard. The man doesn't seem to take K's questions kindly, and a fight ensues. Later, Jared Leto's character (who appears to be blind or some kind of android) reflects on the role of slavery in human progress and reveals that his means of creating replicants are limited. Finally, K goes looking for Deckard, who says that he and his fellow Blade Runners were being hunted. As the trailer unfolds, it turns out that K may be the key to the future of humanity. Although it is not clear whether replicants will replace humans or not, the truth could start a war in the process.
Cast and Release
The film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford (reprising his role as Rick Deckard), Ana de Armas, MacKenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Carla Juri, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green wrote the screenplay, which follows the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples, based on the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick. With Ridley Scott as executive producer and Denis Villeneuve as director (Sicario, Arrival), Blade Runner 2049 will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on October 6, 2017.
