Prometheus left many doubts, too many even when compared with other ambiguous science fiction projects. That was part of what made the film less appealing, but if it left one thing clear, it's that it would be the first of many. The date is approaching for Alien: Covenant. Once again, a special group will go to explore a world much more deadly than it appears, and will pay with blood for its ignorance. Here is the first trailer.
I must admit that I didn't generally like Prometheus. It's aesthetically impeccable, and Michael Fassbender stole a large part of the film, but other aspects left much to be desired. (Spoilers!) From the "cartographer who gets lost" to the almost complete group acting like six-year-olds, it's logical to assume that "team of experts" wasn't the brightest. Even so, the path was left open for a sequel, with Shaw and a decapitated David as the only survivors. It was in March 2012, before the premiere of Prometheus in theaters, that Ridley Scott himself admitted the existence of unanswered questions in the film, which could be resolved through a sequel. And that sequel is Alien: Covenant. Let's go with the trailer.

The First Trailer
Blood everywhere, desperate people, violent transformations, blunders, a facehugger that doesn't waste time and a Xenomorph of full size that interrupts a 'hot' moment. Yes, this material definitely fits as a good trailer for Alien: Covenant. In fact, I think what we've seen so far follows a similar line to the first film, with obvious differences, starting with the planets. In Alien, LV-426 was uninhabitable until Weyland-Yutani installed an atmospheric processor and created the Hadley's Hope colony. In Covenant, the world the new team visits is a virtual paradise... as long as we set aside its lethal profile.
Cast and Release Date
Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride lead the cast of Alien: Covenant. Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts are not in charge of the script this time, but instead left their places to Jack Paglen and Michael Green, a name we see repeated in high-caliber works like Logan, and Blade Runner 2049. The confirmed release date for the UK and the US is May 19, 2017, so it will compete for a couple of weeks with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, and the fifth installment of the series Pirates of the Caribbean.
