Bolt plans to begin an autonomous-mobility program in Madrid in 2027, initially collecting real-world driving data to develop and validate the technology. The reported plan is subject to regulatory approval.
Lucid vehicles and NVIDIA technology
Lucid is the planned initial vehicle partner. Bolt and NVIDIA plan to adapt the driving software for European roads and integrate it with vehicles from multiple manufacturers, starting with Lucid.
NVIDIA’s automotive vice president, Rishi Dhall, described Hyperion as a computing-and-sensor architecture, Alpamayo Stack as driving software that combines reasoning AI with conventional perception and planning, and Halos as supporting safety capabilities.
The vehicle targets cover wider plans
The target of at least 25,000 Lucid vehicles applies to Bolt’s wider initiative, not to a Madrid fleet. EV Route reported on September 21, 2026, that Bolt had not placed a formal order for 25,000 vehicles at that time.
Bolt has separately stated an ambition to have 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035.
