It's been almost four months since the end of Dragon Ball Super and now the franchise is back on the rise with the recent release of Dragon Ball Heroes. But as the saying goes, third time's a charm, and by the end of the year a movie is coming with a familiar face as the antagonist. If there's one character in the Dragon Ball Z films who won over fans, it's undoubtedly Broly. Known as the Legendary Super Saiyan, he made his debut in Dragon Ball Z: Estalla el Duelo (1993), where he's introduced as a pure-blooded Saiyan who survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta and wields immense power when transformed. The Twentieth Dragon Ball Movie
Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the twentieth film in the Dragon Ball series and the first to carry the Dragon Ball Super banner. The story takes place after the Universal Survival Saga, where Son Goku and Vegeta encounter a new Saiyan named Broly. And here's the funny part: Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, didn't remember Broly's story across his three films, even though he had designed him. It was at the request of an editor, who suggested including Broly in the new film, that Toriyama responded positively. He then watched the three films of the villain and redesigned the character into an updated version to connect with the Dragon Ball Super storyline.
Broly's Return and New Details
But Broly wasn't the only one with changes, as his father Paragus now looks a bit older and grayer. Another character making a comeback is Freeza and his Golden Form, where he seems to join forces with Goku again to take on Broly. The film will include the tie-in with Freeza's army and the history of the Saiyans (let's cross our fingers for a flashback scene featuring Yamoshi). The movie features the voices of Masako Nozawa (Son Goku), Ryō Horikawa (Vegeta), Bin Shimada (Broly), Ryūsei Nakao (Freeza), and Katsuhisa Hōki (Paragus), among others. Produced by Toei Animation, Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film: Z) directed the film with a script by Akira Toriyama. Dragon Ball Super: Broly will hit Japanese theaters on December 14, 2018 and arrive in the rest of the world in January 2019.
